It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our son and brother, Adam Malec. After a lengthy battle with mental illness and addiction, Adam returned home to his heavenly Father on May 17th, 2023.
Adam was charming, intelligent, creative, compassionate, outgoing, quick-witted, ambitious, proud, and immensely complex. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his mother Chalcea Malec, his father Michael Malec, his brother Chad Malec, and his sister Lauren Hodge, their spouses and nieces.
Adam's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Adam's friends Joel and Shane, Constables Porteous and Proverbs of the Victoria Police Department, the paramedics, ICU respiratory therapists, HCAs, social workers, nurses Kayla, Naya, Haily and Darlene and Dr. Thomas at Victoria General Hospital, as well as Shannon and Lisa from BC Transplant. At the end of Adam’s life, they collectively protected his dignity, treated him with the utmost compassion, and provided him with the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of three Canadians through vital organ donation.
His family takes solace in knowing that after many years of struggle, Adam is finally at peace, safe, and accepted. A celebration of life will be held for Adam on June 24th, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to The Mustard Seed Street Church.
